Vehicle Tracking with Applications
This paper provides an overview of a novel vision system designed to locate, recognise and track multiple vehicles, using a camera mounted on a moving vehicle ( footnote ). The camera motion is estimated by matching points on the ground plane from frame to frame. Target vehicles are localised using optical flow. 3-D model based techniques are employed to obtain detailed information about vehicle movements. The overall approach is demonstrated on a typical real world image sequence. Potential applications to collision alert systems are discussed.
